Concept
子供部屋にあった足踏み式ミシン、母が作る鞄やシャツ, 一枚の布が次第に形になっていくのを側で ワクワクしながら眺めていた事を思い出す。
ミシンの形に組んだ版木 その一枚ずつに彫り込むだイメージを一枚の布に見立てた和紙に刷り ギャラリー全体の空間を構成した。My mother used to have an old leg-operated sewing machine, which she kept in the children’s room. I remember the thrill of watching her at work. One piece of cloth changed into various shirts and bags: it was exciting to see what comes next.
This sewing machine is made of carved woodblocks, which I used for printing the long ”cloth” surrounding the gallery space.
